Simple Ways to Master Social Media Marketing

Social media can be hugely beneficial for many companies. While that is true, many others shy away from it. Maybe they’ve heard horror stories of tweets gone wrong, don’t know how to do it, or think that it simply doesn’t have value to them.

The truth is that mastering social media is easy. Here we take a look at a few tips that will allow you to make the most of it.

Provide value

The first thing that you need to do is provide value. If you’re not saying anything interesting, then people simply aren’t going to interact with your account. You’ll also have no followers, which is never going to be a good look.

You have to give people a reason to follow you. Tweeting out some business stats, for example, isn’t going to cut it. Try to think a little outside the box. Whatever the business you’re in, try and find an interesting angle on it.

Don’t take yourself seriously

Another part of providing value is not taking yourself too seriously. There are some brilliant social media accounts out there that provide plenty of humor. This could be getting involved with memes or perhaps replying to a tweet from a rival.

UK company Specsavers is a great example of this. They are an optical retail chain but comment on all national trends and provide plenty of glasses-related jokes. Along with this, however, they also have excellent customer service and reply promptly to all queries.

Have a great brand

How many times have you seen a viral Tweet or Facebook post? If you’re on those platforms, then it’s probably countless. How many times have you looked at who posted the content and followed them because of it? Probably not many.

Along with great content, you also need to be memorable. This includes having a great brand and a strong logo, which you can create here. If you have that level of brand appeal then you’re much more likely to get plenty of interactions and follows.

Don’t take on too much

We’ve already mentioned Facebook and Twitter but in reality, there are many more social media platforms than that. It can be tempting to sign up to them all and try to post on them regularly. If you’re a small business, this can end up taking far too much time.

It’s the best idea to pick a few to get started with. You should also pick the ones most relevant to your business. It could be that you’re much more suited to LinkedIn than Twitter. An example where it would be difficult is an accounting firm on Instagram, as it would be hard to provide worthwhile picture content.

The benefit of not doing too much is that it makes it easier to deliver excellent content. You will also be able to post regularly without being swamped.

Don’t just rely on text

When you post on social media, especially Twitter and Facebook, don’t just rely on text. It can get boring and people will often just scroll past it. There are many other ways you can have more fun and engaging content.

This could be pre-recorded videos, live videos, pictures, infographics, or gifs. You can create many of them easily here and for free too. Mixing it up will mean you get plenty more engagement and traffic.

You should always look at how you can promote your content differently. You see plenty of social media accounts that are just an endless stream of boring text. If you take the opportunity to be a little brighter and bolder then you’ll see the benefits.
