Why Are You Dictating Your Marketing Efforts If You’re Not a Marketer?

Today, I wanted to ask business owners and entrepreneurs a really important question, and that question is, why are you dictating your internet marketing strategies?

Unless you’re taking the time to read the books, take the courses, learn search engine optimization, learn Google Ads, learn how to create landing pages, improve conversion rates, create compelling content, and whatever it might be. There’s a lot of facets that go into the internet marketing, and a lot of things have to be done well in order to have any success.

The reason I bring this question up is because what I’ve found over the years is that a lot of business owners want to dictate their entire marketing strategy, which doesn’t make sense if they’re not taking the time to really learn internet marketing. With that being said, the best thing that you can do as a business owner is take the time to find a digital agency or marketing consultant that is going to walk you through their process, let you know what it is that they’re planning to do, and then put the tools and systems in place to hold themselves accountable. This will allow you and your team to incrementally make improvements to all of your marketing campaigns.

So if you are a business owner or entrepreneur that is dictating exactly what you’re going to do with your marketing campaigns rather than collaborating with your current marketing team to come up with the best solution, then you’re making a big mistake. What you’re doing is basically paying order takers to implement strategies that maybe you don’t have much experience with, or maybe you’re just kind of taking a shot in the dark.

The best advice that I can give you, is hunt down a digital agency that cares about your business, is going to take the time to learn about your business, and put the tools and systems in place to hold themselves accountable and ensure that they’re working towards your goals.

Another important point is just setting up the goals and letting the marketing company do what they need to do to achieve those goals, of course, while working within your vision and brand identity, and things like that.

I hope this helps. Put a little bit of thought into it. Think about, “Am I just giving orders, or am I actually collaborating to create a successful Internet marketing campaign?”
